In August 2014, a group of families and business leaders met to organize a fundraiser for Samuel Robinson. Samuel benefited from intensive treatment at ABC of NC in Winston-Salem, NC. Samuel’s parents, Kyle and Bobbie, felt lead to do something more that would not only impact their son, but families and children affected by autism throughout eastern North Carolina for years to come.
Aces for Autism, a not-for-profit organization, was formed and quickly gained community support from not only families affected by autism, but from many medical and business leaders in the eastern North Carolina community including Vidant and Dr. Michael Reichel (founder of ECU Family Autism Clinic).
In 2016, Aces for Autism began providing center based services for children and families affected by autism. Aces for Autism provides doctor prescribed, evidence based therapies that will significantly impact the lives of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and their families. In addition, Aces for Autism created a program to provide services for families that could not otherwise afford them.
Aces for Autism Child Development Center has been funded primarily through private donations, grants, public funding and fundraisers.
